Hyundai Development Company has published its 2022
Sustainability Report, which reflects the company's efforts and commitment to
ESG management performance and practices for a sustainable future. The report,
released on the 30th, highlights the harmonious development of people, society,
and the environment as Hyundai Development Company's ESG vision. The company has
continuously worked towards enhancing environmentally friendly construction
activities, fostering a people-centric corporate culture, and achieving
responsible ESG management.
The Sustainability Report comprises three sections:
Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G). Hyundai Development Company
embraced the shareholder proposal during its regular shareholders' meeting in
March, deciding to publish the Sustainability Report and disclose it
externally. Starting from July, the company embarked on the process of issuing
the report. In this year's report, the achievements in the Social (S) sector
primarily revolve around measures to enhance safety and quality systems.
Hyundai Development Company has established a process of
reporting, discussing, and deliberating on major safety and health-related
issues with its board of directors. Since the appointment of members to the
Safety and Health Committee in July, matters related to safety and health are
now reported to the board of directors after obtaining approval from the Safety
and Health Committee. Additionally, efforts to regain customer trust have been
underscored through the appointment of a Chief Safety Officer (CSO) with
independent decision-making authority and the reinforcement of safety and
quality-related systems within the Construction Innovation Team.
Other significant achievements in the Social (S) sector
include sustainable supply chain management and cooperative business operations
with partner companies, talent-centered management, enhanced customer service,
Pony Foundation operations, and contributions to local communities.
In the Environmental (E) sector, key achievements include
the establishment of dedicated environmental organizations and management
systems, the development and application of eco-friendly technologies, measures
to minimize environmental impacts such as waste, water, and particulate matter
management, as well as actions to address climate change through energy and greenhouse
gas management.
Under the Governance (G) sector, notable accomplishments
include transparent board operations, the establishment of ethical management
practices, enhancement of risk management systems, and the establishment of
information protection systems.
A representative from Hyundai Development Company stated,
"We will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and
environmental impacts through eco-friendly business and technological
development, while simultaneously practicing collaborative growth and
cooperation in the supply chain, internalizing ethical and legal management,
and achieving sustainable growth." They further added, "By
transparently disclosing the company's ESG management activities through
reports like the Sustainability Report, we will focus on enhancing corporate
value."
