Starting with “Wall Drawing” in Itaewon and a “Symphony Library” in Guro-gu, Seoul, on April 20th, Hyundai Development Company plans to hold a social contribution relay at the group level. Last year, the company conducted community-based volunteer service activities centering around their HQ in Yongsan, before expanding the scale of this effort into a nationwide campaign staged at the group level this year.
Also on Apr. 20th, HDC opened a Symphony Library at the Guro Community Children’s Center. 20 employees from the Management Innovation Office took part in donating 600 books to the Children’s Study Room of the Symphony Library at the Guro Community Children’s Center, also replacing bookracks and desks in an effort to improve the learning environment. The use of the term “symphony,” a nickname for Se Young Chung, the late honorary chairman, expresses the organization’s intention to continue upholding his philosophy, with a focus on providing excellent human resources. This is the 7th such library to be opened, following ones in Mugyeong in Gyeongbuk, Milyang in Gyeongnam, Pyeongtaek in Gyeonggi, and Yongsan and Dongdaemun in Seoul as of April 2014, when the Onnuri Study Room, the first library, started operation in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do.
In addition, HDC plans to hold social contribution relays nationwide at the group level this year. Starting with Hyundai PCE’s volunteer activities conducted at the Angels’ House in Yeoju in February, HDC Incons Company and HDC Icontrols replaced LED lights at the Community Children’s Center in Seongnam in March, and HDC I-Service will provide volunteer services at the Dubalro Child Care Center in Dobong-gu in April. In the meantime, HDC Young Chang Co., Ltd., plans to hold a prenatal care music concert for the underprivileged, and HDC IPARK sports will hold a soccer clinic for youths in correctional institutions in an effort to boost confidence and positive mindsets. Various plans have been made with regard to social contribution activities in consideration of the characteristics of each affiliated company.
